Naked Website Design Case Study – Providing Credit Control Services
The need:
Lisa of Naked Website Design was doing all her own invoicing and realised that sometimes invoices had been missed. Her accounts where taking up a lot of her time and she knew they still weren’t being managed efficiently. In addition, she didn’t have set payment terms and felt uncomfortable chasing up what she considered to be overdue invoices. Lisa didn’t:
- Know who owed her money at any given time
- Have time to do the reconciling to match PayPal and other payments to invoices
- Feel on top of her accounting and the situation was affecting her cashflow
The solution:
Naked Website Design didn’t want to change accounting software, which is absolutely fine, so we agreed to become familiar with the existing system and provide credit control services. We needed to work together to get the accounts up-to-date and establish some payment terms for future invoices.

- helped Lisa write up payment terms to be displayed on invoices and her website
- created templates for reminder emails
- went back to the beginning of 2018 and made sure all invoices that had been paid were correctly accounted for
- identified which invoices were overdue and by how much
- client set us up with an email account to contact clients from
- did a training session with Lisa on Paymo, learning how to create invoices, send them and mark as paid
- we started to contact all clients who had overdue invoices
Once their new payment terms were set up and we started to monitor the outstanding invoices:
Results:
- very few invoices are now overdue
- Lisa has peace of mind knowing we check invoices every week and mark as paid
- we monitor overdue invoices and contact clients when invoices have gone past 21 days overdue
- invoices are being paid faster
- our client now has more time to devote to her clients
- Lisa is less stressed as she no longer has to chase clients for payment
I love my job but I hate asking people to pay me! I’d been plodding along with it for years and letting invoices go unpaid until they really mounted up because I felt so bad about chasing people. Arianna came in and just sorted it out! It was more comfortable for me to get her to email reminders than to do it myself and my clients were happy to pay the invoices that had slipped through the net. I wish I’d got Arianna to do my credit control years ago. My bank and PayPal accounts are looking really healthy now and I’d recommend Arianna to anyone in my position.
